At sea heading for Oman

At Sea – 11 June

Outside looking in at "The Paddock"

Quiet day today. A big, even swell running and the ship is rolling, in my opinion, pleasingly. Everyone is a little tired from the big day out yesterday. Gail, Sue, Rosemary and Barry (Bombay Baz) who are our 'cousins' at our table got back to the ship after 10.00 last night after spending the last hours ashore at the Taj Hotel. As an aside, Barry has decided if we're all related we need a family name – we considered the Parsonage-Smiths (with a long 'a') but have settled on Bogan. Mostly everyone ate in "The Paddock" last night. Zica, our assistant waiter was actually working in The Paddock as they knew no one was going to show at our table in the dining room. It was raining this morning and all the washing I had on the balcony overnight was soaking wet. Bad housewife!! Too much to drink to remember to bring in the washing. My vocabulary in Serbian is coming along a treat. Not only can I say, I don't speak English, happy birthday, good day, good evening, I can now say "cheers" and "frog". Shouldn't be too hard to work into any conversation. I had a silly, fun, conversation, in French, in The Paddock with a supervisor from Portugal about whether go to Honfleur on the train or by plane – no choice, have to go by bus. They had very hard questions at trivia this morning (Questions were OK, answers were hard). Emma, the lovely girl who conducts trivia in the mornings, apologised because she got an answer wrong the day before. I think she made up for it with difficult questions. We only managed 13/20 and the smarty people who always win only got 16. Anyway, who cares how far the sun is away from Earth I say – I was only out by about 50 million miles. It's formal tonight ...don't much feel formal at the moment. Have to change my attitude. We're having a pirate drill next week. John is working on a "Bogan" family action plan for repelling pirates. My only contribution so far was to show them my hairdo first thing in the morning, would probably scare them off. However, will keep you posted as this plan develops. No doubt it will be in depth.
