Singapore

2 June

Singapore today. We went ashore and were met by Josephine, our neighbour when we lived at Sherwood. We went off to her apartment which is on the top floor and has a beautiful big balcony. Josephine and Christoph are now part of the ex-pat community here. It was great to catch up. She drove us out on the beach road towards Changi where there is a 25km bike path that they ride regularly. We had lunch at a little restaurant out there. We're lucky because when they lived in Hong Kong and we sailed in, they were off elsewhere. Josephine has just come back from Hong Kong and is about to fly off to Oz to see her mum and be in Brisbane for her son, Sven's 21st birthday. Christoph was in Shanghai so didn't get to see him. The ship docks at the cruise terminal (last time we were docked in the container port). There is a huge shopping centre that passengers actually have to walk through when they disembark so those of you next year who like to shop till you drop, I hear shoes are the good buy. There were certainly lots of them being brought on board as well as lots of other large shopping bags. There is also a supermarket in the complex and plenty of money change places. We were late sailing from Singapore because a couple of passengers hadn't handed in their passports. We missed the window to sail out because the Superstar Virgo was sailing in. Was interesting to see it dock. KL tomorrow.
