At Sea

Last Night's sunset...

We're just about to make a right turn into the Red Sea.

18 June

The big news today is that we are not going to stop at Safaga. There are a lot of disappointed people on board as some had a lifetime wish to go to The Valley of the Kings and will now miss out. All tour money is being refunded and the Captain mentioned compensation. We weren't going on a tour but Safaga was still important to us as we've always wanted to go there because grandma was born there. (Not really). We have a booking time through the Suez Canal and won't be able to meet it if we stop. It still looks like one propeller is working full time and the other part time. We are doing 18 knots in a reasonably calm sea and can do 21 knots full speed. The pool today was filled to capacity so the surrounding paddling area was full and the water was swishing back and forward because of the swell. Was a fun swim. I had a day off today. Went to trivia this morning and spent from 11.00am until about 2.00pm in a sun lounge (in the shade) looking at the ocean, then getting in and out of the pool. Then, after all that effort, I had a nap. Tomorrow there's a movie I want to see. It's all go, go, go. While we were on deck, the Captain collected his daughter from kids club. He walked back along the deck holding her hand and she had a painting that she was showing people. Very cute. She's about 3. I'm having the evening off too – no drinking, eating early in "The Paddock" and maybe watch a movie on TV. Because it's Friday night, John, Baz and Allan are going out because that's what guys do. So what would make Friday different from any other night this week??
